SoakScout data & sources

Traceable facts.
Honest gaps.

SoakScout is built from reproducible public data, with source evidence retained separately from each real-world entity.

Discovery sources

OpenStreetMap identifies mapped hot springs and thermal public baths. The U.S. Geological Survey Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) supplies authoritative named-feature records. We preserve source identifiers, original tags, retrieval dates, and licensing context.

Verification and enrichment

Visitor details come from NPS, USFS, BLM, state or local government, official operators, and official tourism authorities. We do not ingest competitor descriptions, reviews, or photos. An unavailable field remains unknown.

What you’ll see

Verified guides

Named and mapped places with enough trusted visitor information to help plan a visit.

Mapped springs

Supported names and locations that are useful on the locator while practical details are still being checked.

Behind-the-scenes review

Historical, ambiguous, or insufficiently supported records stay out of the consumer experience until resolved.

Maps and geocoding

The local development map uses OpenStreetMap tiles with visible attribution. Public Nominatim is optional for development testing only and is not a production dependency. The geocoder interface is designed for a compliant hosted provider or self-hosted service later.
